Could Porn be Moving To Sin City?

For decades, the porn capital of the United States has been nestled in the San Fernando Valley of California, but people are beginning to migrate to Las Vegas to escape the Inquisition-like attacks by legislature and other organisations.

California is a great environment for the adult industry with its beautiful scenery and people used to seeing cameras everywhere. You can easily find camera, sound and other crews around since that state is also the movie making capital.

Recent years have been problematic for porn producers thanks to the mandatory condom law, organisations like the AIDS Healthcare Foundation lobbying for stricter laws and the government’s sudden aversion to all things porn. Some larger companies like Brazzers are opening studios in Las Vegas where things are bit more lax.

Sin City has been open to the adult industry for many years hosting trade shows and AVN Awards, and the adult industry is taking note. There are several stumbling blocks that make the move from California difficult.

The difficulty finding crew is one, but also many of the industry’s stars are based in California. A shift to Nevada would either require them to relocate or commute to do their scenes.

Also, while shooting porn is legal in Nevada, as long as they obey zoning laws, there is no telling how the city or state will react when it becomes the new home of porn. Some say, they might enact similar rules as California and the groups that have plagued them in the state will just move to Nevada to continue their crusade.

Others believe the state will be more supportive and. while not receiving them with open arms, at least leave them alone to do their thing.  Las Vegas is filled with vices of every kind and when your mottos is “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” I can’t help but think they might be supportive of an industry that caters to carnal desire.

A move to Vegas might also make California a little more hesitant to push the industry as well. The state’s is in bad shape and hemorrhaging money. Despite having high taxes and some of the richest companies in the world, the state is hurting. Do they really want to push out such a booming industry as adult film?

There will be a time down the line where things will come to a head. It will be a tipping point that will convince the adult industry that the initial expense of moving to Vegas will not outweigh the long-term benefits.
